The Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Division of Banking Supervision & Regulation (BS&R) prepares periodic reports on banking trends and risks. While produced primarily for financial institutions and internal audiences, many of these reports also are made available to the public so others may gain some insight into issues and concerns of bank supervisors.
We’re happy to see strong loan growth among 12th District banks, but in this issue of the Supervisory Spotlight we note the need to monitor that growth and ensure lending standards remain prudent.
This Asia Focus report explores the use of m-payments in Asia and evaluates the challenges it faces regarding wider adoption. Specifically, this report clarifies what an m-payment is, identifies which factors are facilitating and hindering the use of m-payments by consumers in certain economies of Asia, and summarizes key issues this new payment technology presents to government regulators.
The 4Q13 issue of First Glance 12L shows that many economic and banking metrics within the 12th District are getting close to “normal” levels (i.e., long-term non-recession average), but earnings and other challenges remain.
The 12th District RE Conditions report provides a high level overview of real estate market conditions in the 12th District based on results from FRBSF’s CRE and RRE Vitality models.
