BANKING SUPERVISION AND REGULATION:
TEMPORARY BALANCE SHEET GROWTH DURING THE CENTURY DATE CHANGE PERIOD

To State Member Banks, Bank Holding Companies,
Edge Act Corporations, U.S. Branches and Agencies of Foreign Banks,
and Others Concerned in the Twelfth Federal Reserve District

The Federal Reserve, along with the other federal banking agencies, has issued the attached Interagency Statement about potential temporary balance sheet growth. It details the agencies' supervisory approach to any temporary balance sheet growth due to unusual market responses over the century date change period. This guidance urges banking organizations to develop contingency plans to address funding, liquidity, and other issues.
