A range of strategies is critical to addressing and reducing the social and economic disparities that are inextricably tied to poor health outcomes. Inadequate availability of employment opportunities, high quality housing, education, recreation facilities and other community-based services are just a few of the environmental conditions that create barriers to a higher quality of life for residents of low-income communities. This panel highlights innovative approaches that are tackling these conditions head on to create communities that offer greater promise and opportunity.
