Penelope Douglas is Managing Director of Pacific Community Management, an affiliate of Pacific Community Ventures (PCV) that provides venture fund investment and advisory services to PCV's three funds. She is also a Partner in Pacific Community Ventures, LLC, the managing member of PCV Investment Partners III. Douglas co-founded Pacific Community Ventures in January 1999 and still serves as the President of the nonprofit organization. PCV's mission is to provide resources and capital to businesses that have the potential to bring significant economic gains to low-income communities throughout California. As President, Douglas launched PCV's community development investment assistance model, including three service areas: business advisory services, a resource network and equity financing. She has developed methodologies for screening potential portfolio companies, brought together a highly motivated, committed volunteer group of business advisors, implemented financial and information systems, marketed the venture fund to prospective investors, developed the organization's management team, and implemented metrics to measure social return on investment on a regular basis. Douglas is a California native and her education includes a B.A. from Smith College. She is also an athlete and an artist. She has competed in Ironman distance triathlons; her great love is trail running in Marin County. She is also a painter whose work has been exhibited in Northern California.
