Dena Belzer is the founder and president of Strategic Economics, an urban economics research firm based in Berkeley, California. She has over 25 years experience working on economic issues ranging in scale from regional growth management to individual development projects. Ms. Belzer specializes in projects with complex settings and many actors, often requiring an innovative approach to the required research and analysis. Her particular specializations include retail and neighborhood revitalization, transit-oriented development, economic development, and corridor redevelopment. Strategic Economics is also part of the three way collaboration with Reconnecting America and the Center for Neighborhood Technology that comprises the Center for Transit Oriented Development (CTOD). Ms. Belzer sits on the CTOD’s leadership team and directs many of the Center’s research projects. She has numerous publications and has served as a national expert on many topics for the US EPA, The Mayors Institutes for City Design, and The Urban Land Institute.
