Ismael Guerrero, MPH, has served as Executive Director of the Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver (DHA), since June 2007. DHA has a portfolio of over 4,500 Public Housing, Section 8, and Workforce rental units. DHA administers over 5,900 Section 8 Vouchers and has an annual operating budget of over $100MM, making it the largest housing authority in the Rocky Mountain region. DHA currently has three major public housing redevelopments underway, including the South Lincoln Homes TOD Redevelopment at 10th an Osage, an affordable, LEED certified, transit-oriented development along the soon to be completed West Corridor light rail line. Prior to joining DHA, Guerrero was Vice President and Business Development Officer for U.S. Bank Community Development Corporation. At USB CDC, Guerrero was responsible for structuring equity investments in Low Income Housing Tax Credit partnerships. Guerrero has over 15 years of experience in affordable housing development and finance, including senior positions at Mercy Housing Southwest, Rocky Mountain Mutual Housing, and The Resurrection Project in Chicago. Guerrero has an engineering degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the University of Chicago. Current board affiliations include the Denver Department of Human Services, Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Urban Land Institute – Denver Council, National Housing Trust, National Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO), and the Council of Large Public Housing Authorities.
