Brian Prater is the Managing Director for the Western Region at the Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF). LIIF is a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), and one of the leading nonprofit lenders in the country. Prater oversees lending and program staff in the Los Angeles and San Francisco offices of LIIF, and leads LIIF’s programmatic and policy work in the West Coast. LIIF is also one of the largest affordable housing, education and childcare facility lenders in the country, and a four-time recipient of New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) awards. In March, LIIF and a consortium of CDFIs established a $50MM fund focusing on transit-oriented development (TOD) in the Bay Area. Prior to joining LIIF in 2008, Prater was a Senior Vice President and Team Leader in Community Development Banking with Bank of America in San Francisco, and was responsible for the Northern California and Nevada markets. Prater also spent seven years with the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), and three years with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA). Prater has a Masters degree in Public Administration and Policy from Columbia University.
