Carolina Reid, PhD, manages the Community Development Research Department at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, where she oversees the department’s research on the trends and issues facing low-income communities in the Federal Reserve’s 12th District. Her recent research has focused primarily on the foreclosure crisis, working to understand the impact of the crisis on low-income and minority communities as well as the institutional structures that contributed to disparities in lending for lower-income and minority borrowers. Dr. Reid earned her PhD in 2004 from the University of Washington, Seattle. Other work experience includes policy research and program evaluation at the Environmental Health and Social Policy Center in Seattle, where she worked on issues of public housing and welfare reform, and at World Resources Institute, where she focused on issues of urban environmental health and environmental justice.
