Over the past 18 months at all levels of government we have seen increasing emphasis placed on such basic service needs as housing, employment, mental and behavioral health and criminal justice for recently returning veterans and their families. Coming home and accessing necessary benefits can be a formidable challenge for many service members. This forum brought together key federal, state, and local agencies, bankers, lenders, investors, developers and knowledge experts to create greater awareness of housing and supportive service resources available and to identify ways they can be more effectively utilized to prevent homelessness and increase the chances of successful personal and financial re-entry. This forum marked the first occasion in California of such a convening on veteran issues.
