Melody Winter Head, Regional Manager
Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco

This well-attended workshop attracted leading public and private international trade lenders and technical assistance presenters to a panel discussion on the effects of the recent recession on small business owners and how w trade finance is viewed as specialized bank financing to promote new opportunities for business owners to increase sales and profit, while generating new sources of low-risk bank lending activity in low-income, CRA qualified neighborhoods. The topic was of greater interest to bank loan officers than to bank CRA officers, however both groups took away a clear understanding of the ease of creating and managing a trade finance program. Preceding the panel Laura Choi of the Federal Reserve Bank gave an economic update and overview of California’s economy and the Pacific Rim.
