Economic Development"Economic development" strategies can include a wide range of activities, including recruiting manufacturing plants, seeding small businesses, and training workers for careers in new industries. Some of these efforts specifically focus on increasing development in underinvested neighborhoods and helping build the earning power and assets of historically underserved populations. In this section, we explore the spectrum of programs and organizations that are aiming to strengthen regional and neighborhood economies and build the "human capital" in low- and moderate-income areas.
