In 2009, Melody Winter Nava, Regional Manager for Southern California, conducted her Master’s research project in the Eastside community of Riverside, California to examine the post-foreclosure recovery needs of low-income households. Through a series of interviews, survey questionnaires, and community workshops with residents and stakeholders, the research report identifies gaps in the area of foreclosure recovery and documents the lack of availability of funding, resources and information focused on helping families recover post-foreclosure. The study also provides recommendations for the field, including expanding availability of financial education, conducting neighborhood workshops to raise awareness of available resources in the community, and promoting neighborhood reinvestment.
