People with mental and physical disabilities have limited options for housing that are accessible and affordable. In 2005, the median household income for working-age individuals (21 to 64) with disabilities was $35,000 — about half of the $61,500 median household income for that same age group without disabilities and lower than the median household income of the general population ($46,242). There is a tremendous need to increase the inventory of housing units for people with disabilities and their families.
This roundtable will highlight the role of the Community Reinvestment Act in financing successful affordable housing models for people with disabilities and explore capital solutions to expand these models. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the various disability needs, why the demand for disability housing is increasing, and how your organization can help to address this critical need.
