Please join Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference members, Southwest Alaskan elected officials, businesses and residents, agencies, and other regional stakeholders for the 25th Southwest Alaska Economic Summit and Annual SWAMC Membership Meeting, which will take place February 20-22, 2013 at the Hotel Captain Cook in Anchorage. This annual event gives attendees a chance to network, learn about and discuss important development topics, and reach consensus on policy issues that affect Southwest Alaska. As usual, the Economic Summit will feature many of the topics that are critical to economic development in rural Alaska, and primarily in the Southwest region.
2013 will mark the 25th Anniversary of SWAMC, a time to celebrate our regional connections over the past two and a half decades. The conference this year will feature a one-day energy workshop to open the meeting. There will also be a panel with the region’s air transportation carriers, as well as with the Alaska ferry system. We’ll explore the region’s broadband strategy and investigate potential opportunities for Southwest Alaska that could come from Arctic development and natural gas delivery as well. We will have a comprehensive discussion between communities and regional processors, and have a work session on the latest Fisheries, Seafood, and Maritime Industries efforts. Finally, there will even be a debate on maximum benefit resource extraction featuring UAA's award-winning debate team. These are just a few of the speakers and events lined up for the Summit. To become a sponsor of the 2013 Conference, please go here. More details about the event and updated information can be found on the SWAMC website. We look forward to seeing you at the event.
