Uniform Commercial Codes: Bringing Business to Indian Country
June 2012 – February 2013

Learn how adopting a secured transaction code can increase economic development opportunities for tribal nations. This workshop will show how to compete in today’s markets, identify the roadblocks and solutions to securing business transactions in Indian Country, explain the importance of commercial laws to borrowers and discuss why lenders must have the ability to secure loan transactions. Tribal leaders and council members, tribal judges, tribal attorneys, entrepreneurs and commercial lenders all will benefit from this workshop.

The U.S. Department of the Interior's Bureau of Indian Affairs, Office of Justice Services/Tribal Justice Support and Office of Indian Energy and Economic Development, in partnership with the Federal Reserve Banks of Minneapolis, San Francisco and Kansas City, are presenting legal training workshops on the subject of secured transactions law that are specifically designed for tribal judges and tribal attorneys, as well those engaged in contracting and business development.
