Work in progress Mary Daly is currently working on several research projects related to regional differences in productivity. In the first project, Daly examines the extent to which state productivity growth trends match those documented for the nation. This work shows substantial differences in trend productivity growth by state and in changes in these trends over time. In a related paper, Daly links these differences to variation in capital investment and human capital, paying particular attention to differences in investment in IT goods and services. Building on previous work on income and wage inequality, Daly exploits geographic differences (state and country) to examine the relationship between productivity growth and wage inequality.
