Diversity
at the Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve Bank of San
Francisco is committed to enhancing the diversity of
our work force and providing an inclusive work environment
where all employees can contribute fully and be recognized
for their contributions. Specifically, "inclusive
work environment" refers to a workplace where
individuals are able to contribute, regardless of their
race, age, physical abilities/disabilities, gender,
sexual orientation, ethnicity, communication and work
styles, first language, education, family status, spiritual
beliefs, and other factors that make us who we are.
To ensure that our commitment
to diversity is action-based, we have appointed an
EEO & Diversity Officer and established a Diversity
Liaison Group. The EEO & Diversity Officer ensures
compliance with our Equal Employment Opportunity policies
and partners with Human Resources and management on
diversity initiatives. The District Diversity Liaisons,
a group of ten managers from our five offices, serve
as liaisons on EEO/diversity issues and as an advisory
board to the EEO & Diversity Officer. The liaisons
review the effectiveness of existing programs, recommend
enhancements and new initiatives, and facilitate diversity
programs and communications.
The EEO & Diversity Officer,
the Diversity Liaisons, District Human Resources, and
Executive Management are collaborating on a multi-year
diversity initiative to address diversity as an integral
part of our organizational strategy. The initiative,
kicked off in spring 2001, includes assessing our environment
in terms of diversity, developing a diversity strategy,
and implementing steps to build a more inclusive corporate
culture.
The EEO & Diversity Officer
and the Diversity Liaison Group welcome questions and
feedback from employees regarding our efforts in and
progress toward workplace diversity and inclusion.
