Training
and Organizational Development
The Training and Organizational
Development Department is a great resource that offers
programs to help our employees meet their professional
and departmental goals. Through training, coaching,
and organizational development consulting they provide
solutions in ways that work with varying work schedules
and priorities.
The Department offers courses
to cover a wide spectrum of topics. These include management,
professional, and general development — as well
as one-on-one leadership coaching for officers and
managers, supervisors, and project leads. The course
list, for example, includes classes on strategic planning,
presentation skills, developing people, and performance
planning and appraisal. The Training Library also offers
several multimedia courses ranging from a management
course on "The One Minute Manager" — to
a professional development course on "Tapping
into Your Creativity."
For more specific objectives,
the Department offers consulting services for managers
and their staff. In this role, coaching is conducted
in private one-on-one sessions on specific challenge
areas such as communication, career path, and effectiveness.
Additional consulting topics detail process engineering,
project management, team building, decision making,
and interpersonal communication. The Department further
offers facilitation services for meetings, and can
design custom intact team training to bolster specific
skills.
For upper management, the
Federal Reserve has adopted a Continuing Professional
Development Program. This Program serves to facilitate
the development, retention, and hiring of skilled
staff by making available ongoing learning experiences
and fostering a work culture that ensures the Federal
Reserve's ability to meet challenges in a dynamic,
global supervisory environment. The framework advances
the strategic objective of fostering a cultural shift
toward increasingly flexible and diverse careers
for professional staff. View the video
