Visiting the City by the Bay? The San Francisco Fed offers one of the world's foremost collections of historic United States currency, and a look at cash processing too!


In the Los Angeles area? Ever dreamed of seeing the cash supply for Southern California? Come check out our currency processing facilities and interactive Fed Gallery lobby exhibit.


Planning a trip to a different destination? Visit the Federal Reserve offices in Phoenix and Salt Lake City to see the Fed in action.

The Phoenix office is a state-of-the-art cash processing facility which opened in September 2001. Make your tour reservation today by calling (213) 683-2900.

Sixty-minute tours are offered the third Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., by reservation only.
The tour includes the cash vault and cash processing operation.
Salt Lake City: Make your tour reservation today by calling (801) 322-7926.
Tours last 90 minutes Monday through Friday, by reservation only. Tours may be scheduled up to six months in advance.
The tour includes the Branch’s cash operation, which features an historical currency display.
Seattle: The new Seattle office, located in Renton, is currently not offering tours.  Tours will be offered beginning later in 2008.

 

High School Teachers!  

“There's a lot to learn about money!" Free personal finance training available! (Offered in Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and San Francisco only.)
Join us for a tour and then empower your students to take control of their finances. Students will learn:
the time value of money (saving and investing),
how to develop a budget, and
the relationship between risk and rate of return.

The training lasts approximately 60 minutes and is conducted after your scheduled tour. It is designed for high school groups composed of 15-30 students.

Tour Details

Prearranged tours are available to groups of students (high school and college), teachers, bankers, and community and business organizations, with a minimum of 8 persons (10 persons for San Francisco only) and a maximum of 30.

In San Francisco only, sixty-minute public tours of the Fed Center exhibit are available on a walk-in basis Fridays at noon.

All locations require a minimum of two weeks advance notice as well as a list of tour participants submitted to the tour coordinators two weeks prior to the scheduled visit.

Important Note

Due to heightened security requirements, we may close to the public at any time if the national threat level is elevated. No cameras or camera phones are allowed in our facilities; photo identification is required. We have security checks similar to those at airports. Groups requesting more than two tour reservations per month must obtain prior approval from the tour coordinator.
