WHY:

The four-round event will test students' knowledge and understanding of microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and the Federal Reserve System. Now in its third year, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco's Economics Challenge is just one of many ways the FRBSF works with educators to make economics come alive in the classroom. In eleven different venues throughout the West, more than 650 students and one hundred-plus teachers are vying for the top state prizes—$1,000 savings bonds—and for the grand prize—expense-paid trips to San Francisco, where the winners will be treated to an inside look at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
