Written competition from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by
college bowl-style interactive competition from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00
p.m.

round. Meet some of the smartest kids in the West, as competing
team members face off in the finals using hand-held buzzers to beat
one another in responding to questions.

| WHY: |
The four-round event will test students' knowledge and understanding
of microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and
the Federal Reserve System. Now in its third year, the Federal Reserve
Bank of San Francisco's Economics Challenge is just one of many
ways the FRBSF works with educators to make economics come alive
in the classroom. In eleven different venues throughout the West,
more than 650 students and one hundred-plus teachers are vying for
the top state prizes$1,000 savings bondsand for the
grand prizeexpense-paid trips to San Francisco, where the
winners will be treated to an inside look at the Federal Reserve
Bank of San Francisco.
