SIGNS OF ECONOMIC SLOWING FOLLOW BLOCKBUSTER YEAR FOR WEST

The San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank’s publication, Western Economic Developments (WED), has a new look and a new focus. In this issue, Fed regional economists highlight overall conditions as the economy slows. Special attention is given to energy costs, employment, consumer confidence and spending, stock options and capital gains, housing and construction. In addition, this issue debuts a feature called "High-tech Watch."

WHEN:

Now available on the Internet at: http://www.frbsf/publications/economics/wed/2001/wed0103bk.pdf

WHY:

Future issues of the WED will focus on in-depth analysis of special economic topics in the region. With this new focus, WED’s design was streamlined to provide easier access to information such as: real estate, employment, and export data. Economics and Business reporters who are researching the regional economy and are seeking neutral, third-party input to bring perspective to their stories may wish to view FRBSF’s Western Economic Developments.
