Seattle, WA – March 18, 2009 – The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System has appointed Ada M. Healey, vice president, Real Estate, for Vulcan Inc., to serve on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Seattle Branch. The appointment is effective immediately.

Vulcan Inc. is a Seattle-based company owned by Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen. The company oversees Allen’s philanthropic efforts and business interests, including investments in biotechnology, aerospace and real estate.

Ms. Healey manages the company's real estate development portfolio, which primarily includes property in the Pacific Northwest. In her role with Vulcan, Ms. Healey oversees nearly $1.8 billion in real estate assets including approximately 1.4 million square feet currently under construction. She has been instrumental in the redevelopment of nearly 60 acres the company owns in Seattle’s North downtown neighborhood of South Lake Union.

In addition, she manages Vulcan's interests in various neighborhood-planning efforts and partnerships. Prior to joining Vulcan Inc. in 2001, Ms. Healey worked for Clarion Partners, a member of the ING Group.

Ms. Healey serves on a variety of local business and community groups and is currently a member of the International Women’s Forum. Ms. Healey holds a B.A. from Duke University and an M.B.A from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.

Other members of the Seattle Branch board include Helvi K. Sandvik (chair), NANA Development Corporation; William S. Ayer, Alaska Air Group; Richard A. Galanti, Costco Wholesale Corporation; Stan W. McNaughton, PEMCO Mutual Insurance Company; and Carol K. Nelson, Cascade Financial Corporation.
