Senior Vice President and Deputy Director David M. Wright heads the Large Institution Supervision Group, where he oversees the supervisory programs for Wells Fargo Corporation, Charles Schwab Corporation, Zions Bancorporation, Banc West Corporation, and the U.S. operations of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. He also participates at the national level in the supervision of the country’s largest financial institutions. Prior to 2010, Wright oversaw the Division’s risk coordination, economic capital analysis, surveillance, applications, and enforcement functions. He is a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee, which addresses enterprise policies and practices.
Prior to joining the Bank, Wright was the associate director of risk management supervision at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. In that capacity, he was responsible for initiating System risk supervision exams and projects; developing guidance, articulating expectations for banking organization risk management systems across credit, market, operations and compliance risks; and keeping the Board of Governors and System supervisory personnel informed as significant risk trends, issues, or potential concerns emerged.
Prior to joining the Federal Reserve in 1991, Wright was vice president at First Boston Corporation, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions, financial modeling, corporate valuations, and the mortgage finance industry. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Wake Forest University and an MBA from the College of William and Mary.
