Senior Vice President Susan A. Sutherland is responsible for overseeing the Twelfth District’s Equal Employment Opportunity, Human Resources, Statistics functions, and is the director of the Bank’s Office of Minority and Women Inclusion. In her role, she provides strategic leadership for the development and implementation of workforce and inclusion strategies, and ensures timely and high-quality data reporting to Bank stakeholders. She is a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee, which addresses enterprise policies and practices, and serves on the Committee on Plan Administration, the fiduciary oversight body for the Federal Reserve System’s Thrift and Retirement Plans.
Sutherland joined the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 1988 and worked in a variety of functions with increasing responsibility, primarily in financial services, operations, and administrative areas. She was promoted to senior vice president in 1999. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Wesleyan University, and master of science degree in organizational development from Pepperdine University.
Sutherland chairs the board of directors of the United Way of the Bay Area (UWBA) and has served on United Way’s financial and executive committees. She is also a founding member of UWBA’s Women Leadership Council. Susan is an active volunteer with her alma mater, Wesleyan University, and serves on the Board of Visitors of the Graziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University.
