Small business, which the SBA defines as businesses having fewer than 500 employees, has generated 64 percent of net new jobs over the past 15 years and continue to employ over half of all private sector U.S. workers. In recognition of the important role that small business plays in the economic vitality of this country, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act included several new and revised provisions designed to expand access to capital and support small businesses during this challenging economic period. The upcoming forum will give you an opportunity to learn more about the effect that the ARRA provisions have had on small business lending, the influence of regulation on the lending environment, and other trends and issues impacting the capacity of small businesses to start, continue, and grow. As a result of this forum, we hope to inspire a greater understanding of what small businesses need to survive during these recessionary times.
