Meeting the financial needs of low-and moderate-income individuals and families within a bank’s assessment area(s) is the primary requirement of the CRA. In the greater Los Angeles area, many diverse populations overlap in cities and unincorporated areas and over the last twenty-plus years, various nonprofit and community-based organizations have come into existence to support these diverse populations. Concurrently, there has been an increase in the number of financial institutions targeting services to the Asian American and Asian immigrant populations. Recently these two sectors met to discuss community development partnership opportunities for greater impact in Asian American communities.
