Sarah Gelfand serves as the Director of the Impact Reporting and Investment Standards (IRIS) at the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN). The GIIN is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the scale and effectiveness of impact investing around the world, and is the institutional home of the IRIS initiative. IRIS is a common framework for defining, tracking, and reporting the social and environmental performance of organizations receiving impact investment capital. IRIS has been developed collaboratively and is overseen by industry experts from a wide range of sectors and regions. Ms. Gelfand focuses on promoting adoption of the IRIS standards and overseeing the evolution of the IRIS taxonomy. Ms. Gelfand previously worked in product development, business development, and strategic planning with several technology companies. She also conducted public health research in malaria, HIV/AIDS, and cancer, among other areas. Ms. Gelfand holds a BA in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and an MSc in Statistics from the University of Washington.
