Azher Abbasi is senior vice president and general auditor at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. In this capacity, he provides executive and strategic leadership to the Audit function and Bank management ensuring that internal controls are sound and support the Bank’s strategic objectives. As a trusted advisor to the Audit and Risk Management Committee and the Board of Directors, Mr. Abbasi regularly provides recommendations to balance risk and efficiency on local and System initiatives. He is also the coordinating general auditor on the Bank’s large and complex technology programs related to cash.
Mr. Abbasi joined the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco in 2015. Prior to joining the Bank, he held leadership positions at Symantec, KPMG, and GoodGuys. Most recently, he was a senior director over Corporate Risk Assurance at Symantec, where he directed an international team of both finance and IT audit professionals in conducting operational, financial, strategic, and IT audits. His professional experience ranges from implementing and streamlining risk management frameworks to transforming teams to maximize productivity levels through proactive development and management.
Mr. Abbasi earned a bachelor’s degree in computer information systems from the University of Phoenix and has expertise in project management, IT risk management, and information security.
