San Francisco, CA
Summary
The Federal Reserve Board and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco will host a conference on the economic impacts of new technologies on November 16, 2026. The conference will inform the work of the Federal Reserve’s task force on productivity and jobs, which has been tasked with assessing the economic impact of new general-purpose technologies, including superintelligence (SI)/artificial intelligence (AI), to inform the Federal Reserve’s policy judgments. The conference is expected to provide the task force with input from a wide range of stakeholders on technology’s implications for the economy and the labor market, including considerations for policymakers.
The Federal Reserve announced in June five task forces to examine areas central to the broad conduct of monetary policy. Supported by Federal Reserve staff, they operate independently, with a mandate to follow the evidence, provide candid feedback, and produce rigorous findings for the Federal Open Market Committee.
The conference will be livestreamed for the public on this page. In-person attendance will be limited and by invitation only.
