The Center for Pacific Basin Studies at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco is pleased to announce its 2024 Pacific Basin Research Conference, to be held in-person at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco on Friday, November 22, 2024.

We invite submissions of research papers focused on both theoretical and empirical topics in open economy macro and international finance with relevance to economic and policy issues facing the Pacific Region.

Specific topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Inflation in a post-pandemic world
  • Macro and distributional effects of global supply chain disruptions
  • Spillovers of U.S. monetary policy to Asia and emerging markets
  • International aspects of fiscal policy and monetary policy
  • Policy uncertainty
  • Trade tensions and global linkages
  • Reshoring and Friend-shoring
  • Capital flows and capital account policy
  • Exchange rate dynamics
  • Growth prospects in China
  • Demographic issues in Asia and the global economy

Submission procedures

Please e-mail a PDF version of your paper to sf.er.pacific.basin@sf.frb.org. Completed papers receive priority. Authors of accepted papers will be notified. The conference provides limited funding for economy-class travel and up to two nights of hotel accommodations for the presenting authors and discussants. Conference papers will be posted on our public website instead of producing a conference volume. The Pacific Basin Research Conference was last held in 2022 (see agenda).
