Despite recent record lows in unemployment, many Americans are on the sidelines of the economy due to employment barriers like experiences with homelessness or justice system involvement. Employment social enterprises are businesses that reveal and reinforce the talent of these individuals, so the economy can benefit from their skills and contributions.

Join us on Thursday, September 14 for Fueling an Inclusive Economy: The Role of Employment Social Enterprises to discuss how employment social enterprises can remove barriers to employment for Americans who are traditionally sidelined from the labor market.

Participants will hear from experts about:

  • different models for connecting this untapped sector of the workforce with stable, quality jobs
  • how addressing employment barriers benefits both employers and individuals, as well as broader communities
  • recent research based on workers’ first-hand experiences
  • strategies aimed at building an inclusive economy that works for everyone

This event is hosted by the San Francisco Fed Community Development team in partnership with REDF.
