    On October 9, 2013, President Obama nominated Janet Yellen to succeed Ben Bernanke as our nation’s next Federal Reserve chair. Janet Yellen is currently Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve System’s Board of Governors, a role to which she was appointed in October 2010. She served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco from 2004 to 2010. Her career has also included roles as chair of the White House’s Council of Economic Advisors and a professorship at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business, where she is Professor Emerita.
