Charles Tsai

Vice President and Information Security Officer, Statistics and Reserves, Cash Product Office


Charles Tsai is Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Charles oversees all information security activities in the District, including coordinating District information security programs and policies, secure development efforts, cyber risk and compliance activities, and incident response activities. He also represents the District on the Federal Reserve System (FRS) Cyber Security Leadership Team (CSLT).

Prior to this role, Charles was Director of the Software Security and Assessment Services group in FRS National Incident Response Team. In this role, he was responsible for the FRS’s software security group, Security Assurance for the Federal Reserve (SAFR) security control assessments, penetration testing, and red team services.

Before joining the Fed, Charles worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the National Security Agency. He provided a range of cyber security and risk management support to both in-house and federal government and commercial clients. Charles received a bachelor of science degree in computer science and a master of science degree in information security from Florida State University and holds multiple certifications including Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC).
