Chi Elder

Regional Engagement Officer


Chi Elder is a regional engagement officer covering Southern California for the Los Angeles branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. In this role, she helps the San Francisco Fed advance its commitment to becoming a community-engaged Bank by engaging with local business, banking, and community leaders and gathering insights into the trends and issues impacting the region, with a focus on the counties of San Diego, San Bernardino, Riverside and Imperial.

Prior to joining the San Francisco Fed, Chi served as the vice president and market manager for Citi Community Relations. She was responsible for managing community engagement activities in Southern California and Nevada, cultivating and managing stakeholder partnerships, aligning resources with priorities of the Citi Foundation, and connecting social impact driven data, research, and evaluation to thought leadership and strategic messaging in a highly regulated industry.

Chi’s passion and dedication to empower all communities has been widely recognized. She was nominated by the California Senate Leader to serve as a Public Member of the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Professional Fiduciary Bureau advisory committee and was elected as Chair of the committee in 2021 and 2022. Chi also provided insights on community and economic development initiatives as a member of numerous committees and boards, including the San Diego City-County Reinvestment Task Force, San Diego Mayor’s Middle-Income Housing Work Group, Mayor’s Small Business Advisory Board; and served on the boards of nonprofits, including the Union of Pan Asian Communities, Local Initiatives Support Corporation – San Diego, and MiraCosta College’s Umoja Program.

Chi received a master of public health in health management and policy from San Diego State University.
