In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, how can we support the economic recovery of small businesses? How can innovation and technology help bankers and borrowers better work together to manage the financial health of a small business?

Uneven distribution of pandemic relief highlighted the limitations of our current financial system to equitably deploy resources at scale. In an effort to increase access to small business credit for underserved communities, including low- and moderate-income (LMI) communities and communities of color, the San Francisco Fed has been diving deeper into the issue to identify possible solutions and explore potential options for action.

In this next event, we will bring together perspectives from banking, financial technology, and community development finance to consider how lenders can use new sources of data to help small business owners navigate challenging times. The discussion will consider innovative tools that can provide early warning of borrower stress, automatically manage temporary downturns in revenue, and help bankers and borrowers better work together to manage the financial health of a small business.
