This forum is designed to create cross-sector solutions to improving the health of people living throughout the Counties of Multonomah, Clackamas and Washington.  Invitees include representatives from health and community development sectors, including the Healthy Columbia Willamette Collaborative members, government agencies, nonprofit organizations and financial institutions.

The health of our counties depends on the health of its people.  Reducing health disparities and encouraging healthy choices can foster greater health outcomes and less negative impacts on individuals, families and society.  Healthier people are more able to obtain employment, support their families, and contribute to society as a whole. In fact, studies show that over 80% of the factors that affect our health are within our control, and that a significant determinant of our health is how we live our lives and the surrounding economic, social and physical environment.

The connections between health and community development have become increasingly apparent, allowing foundations, health institutions, government, community development organizations, private sector lenders and others to seek new ways to collaborate and leverage resources.

Participants at these meetings will learn they could collaborate to accomplish their organization’s mission and contribute to improving health outcomes.  They will also have the opportunity to recommend large or small projects and allow others to offer their support.
