A new group of research associates (RAs) joins the Economic Research team every year, bringing fresh perspectives and an excitement to learn from professional economists and others working at the SF Fed.
At the same time as the new group arrives, the RAs who have been working in Research over the past two years will be leaving to take their next steps, pursuing new paths and opportunities.
Rami Najjar will be attending Northwestern University this fall to start his PhD in economics and continue to develop his research interest in macroeconomics.
Rami said, “My time at the SF Fed has been deeply rewarding: the mentorship I’ve received has been invaluable, and the many great friendships I’ve made will last a long time!”
Greeshma Avaradi will be attending Stanford University for a PhD in economics.
Greeshma said, “I am very grateful for the excellent mentorship I found at the SF Fed as well as the opportunity to have worked on relevant and thought-provoking research. Being able to explore my interests and experience different parts of the research process has been invaluable in preparing me for my studies and shaping my future research agenda.”
Rohit Garimella will join the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University to pursue a PhD in finance. He aims to investigate how the financial system shapes macroeconomic fluctuations and inequality.
Rohit said, “I am incredibly grateful for my time at the SF Fed. In addition to having the opportunity to work on answering fascinating research questions, I’ve made lifelong friends and mentors through the RA program.”
Addie New-Schmidt will be starting as an analyst at Cornerstone Research after leaving the SF Fed.
Addie said, “I have greatly appreciated my time in the RA program, both for the research skills I’ve developed and the community I’ve found. As an RA, I had the opportunity to contribute substantively to research projects and improve my analytical and quantitative skills. I’m especially grateful for the mentorship from the economists I worked for and for the support from my fellow RAs. My time at the SF Fed confirmed my interest in a career in economics research and I’m excited to see what the future holds.”
Sabrina Considine is looking forward to beginning her PhD in economics at the University of California Berkeley, pursuing her passions in labor, spatial, and macroeconomics. She was awarded the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship for her research proposal on local labor market effects of immigration shocks.
Sabrina said, “Working at the Fed has opened doors I never imagined possible. I am profoundly grateful for the mentorship and friendships I found at the SF Fed and will carry with me the culture of curiosity and warmth that makes this place so special.”
Gracie Ellsworth will start a PhD at UC Davis in agricultural and resource economics.
Gracie said, “I am excited to continue research in the economics of climate change, agriculture, and geography. Working at the SF Fed has been such a privilege. I am fortunate to be able to pursue the answers to my burning questions and am grateful for the RAs, economists, and staff here who have made this such an enriching community.”
Naomi Halbersleben will be joining the State of Utah’s School and Institutional Trust Fund Office as an investment analyst, focused on manager research risk.
Naomi said, “I am incredibly grateful for the formative time I’ve spent working at the SF Fed. I’ve relished the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide variety of data analysis skills and economic research topics and methodologies. I’ve especially appreciated the tight-knit RA cohort and opportunity to learn from the economists at the SF Fed.”
Shane Boyle plans on working in industry as a data analyst/scientist.
Shane said, “During my time at the SF Fed, I’ve developed invaluable skills and have built lasting relationships with both economists and my fellow RAs. I am grateful for the experience and look forward to what my future holds.”
Aayush Singh will be attending UT Austin for a PhD in economics.
Aayush said, “It was a privilege to have spent two years at the SF Fed with such incredible friends and mentors. I feel so lucky that I was truly happy to come to work every day, excited about the research I was doing and the colleagues I was working with. Though my time at the Fed was short, I will cherish the memories I made and relationships I built here forever.”
We offer our congratulations and appreciation and wish the best of luck to all the research associates on their future paths.
