Challenges in Global Finance: The Role of Asia

Date

Monday, June 11, 2012 – Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Location

San Francisco, CA

Asian economies are facing increased global attention as a result of the economic and financial uncertainty that continues to affect Europe and the United States. Government officials, investors, and consumers are considering how the challenges in Europe and the United States will impact Asian trade and investments. At the same time, questions have arisen whether Asia can sustain economic growth independent of weaknesses in other key world regions and whether Asian growth and investment abroad can boost the global economy.

This conference will ask prominent policy makers, bankers, regulators, commentators, and analysts to consider the current and future global economic climate through an Asian perspective. Specifically, it will discuss the following: How have Asian economies fared and what are their prospects? What are the factors impacting Asia’s financial and banking sectors, and how will those evolve going forward? How are Asian banks and financial institutions themselves dealing with these economic and sectoral issues?
