Interest Rates

Interest rates are essentially the cost of borrowing money. Monetary policy uses adjustments in interest rates to stimulate or restrict economic activity to achieve economic goals. Interest rates can also refer to interest paid for personal or businesses loans, interest payments on short- to long-term debt securities, and interest paid on bank deposits.
